Easy Management of Large-Scale Batch Processing

It is now possible to combine the powerful batch-processing abilities of Qube! 5.5 (from PipelineFX) with the powerful digital asset management architecture offered by TACTIC 2.5 (from Southpaw Technology).

This seamless and flexible workflow integrates Qube! job execution into TACTIC, automatically customized with real data. Jobs can be submitted from TACTIC to Qube! for batch processing at any time, creating a reliable batch processing farm connection between TACTIC and Qube!.

A Seamless Production Workflow

With one command from its command line, Qube! can load a job submission interface already prefilled with data and customized for any type of job. Any production using TACTIC software can take advantage of this command-line feature. TACTIC can automatically aggregate all data for the command, such as gathering input files and specifying target locations for the resulting data in the filesystem.

The powerful asset management architecture offered by TACTIC makes it easy to generate scripts (with appropriate platform-specific filepaths) for any digital asset and attach the scripts to buttons. As a result, customized Qube! scripts can be run at any time from the TACTIC interface with the simple click of a button.

TACTIC also manages the workflow going forward, by creating placeholders in the TACTIC file repository for the expected output files from the batch job (including file paths and file names).

This production workflow lets both software applications do what they do best. Although a full job could be submitted entirely from TACTIC, some job-specific information (cores to use, priorities, job names, and so on) is more easily handled by Qube! technology. In addition, specialized TACTIC interfaces would need to be created for every scenario. By integrating the two technologies, TACTIC submits Qube! jobs using either built-in Qube! job types or custom-developed commands tailored to any production, and Qube! creates the custom interfaces for any type of job.
